Services: Standards Compliance & Accessibility; can everyone use your website?

Just like public buildings, websites should conform to certain predefined, and indeed legal and moral requirements (link opens in a 676kb PDF document). Many agencies don't know or care about standards and accessibility, but we do.

The blind or partially sighted, along with any other users with a disability that would impair their ability to view a website should be catered for, and we make every effort to do so. This is achieved by:

  • Separating design from content, allowing alternative browsers to access content directly in a meaningful manner.
  • Coding websites to standard, so that all elements can be identified by someone with disabilities. This ranges from providing descriptive alternative text for photography and images to providing alternative content for animations that would otherwise be meaningless for a disabled visitor.
  • Providing the ability to re-size text.
  • Providing text only and high contrast text versions of websites (look up at the top of this page and see for yourself!).

All websites we build are constructed with accessibility in mind from the ground up, but it may be the case that you have a website and are happy with it, but are concerned with its accessibility. We can:

  • Analyse your website
  • Create a report with recommendations
  • Make the necessary alterations to bring your website up to date with current regulations.
